Centre tightens security norms for CCTV systems to prevent remote unauthorised access: Jitin Prasada
NEW DELHI: The Centre has tightened security of closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems by notifying mandatory essential requirements (ERs), as part of sweeping reforms aimed at stopping unauthorised remote access to surveillance cameras in India.
The reforms mandate documenting the origin of critical components, such as chipsets, assessing against vulnerabilities that could allow unauthorised remote access, and testing of CCTV devices at accredited labs in India, Minister of State for Electronics & IT Jitin Prasada informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
