#ET5GCongress: IoT, M2M will form neural network of 5G-connected economy, says TRAI’s AK Lahoti

NEW DELHI: Machine-to-machine (M2M) communication and the Internet of Things (IoT) are set to become the foundational layer of a hyper-connected digital economy, driving seamless interaction between millions of devices, said AK Lahoti, Chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Speaking on Friday, Lahoti emphasised that enabling this transformation will require progressive regulation, robust spectrum policy, and the integration of AI into telecom networks.

Lahoti was delivering a special guest keynote address at the ETTelecom 5G Congress 2026.
