AI is offering Global South a unique opportunity to catch up fast: Microsoft’s Brad Smith

Artificial intelligence (AI) offers a unique opportunity to countries in the Global South, which have been lagging in technology adoption, “for catch-up growth” and as usage grows, investment will grow as well, said Brad Smith, vice chair and president of Microsoft Corporation.

Positioning India as a ‘land of digital opportunity’, he told ET’s Surabhi Agarwal, that the company with a market cap of $2.95 trillion is a key player in supporting India’s $200 billion AI infrastructure push. He added that as more and more government’s push for AI sovereignty, the trade agreement finalised between the US and India gives an opportunity to make markets in both countries open for digital services and in turn attracting investments to each country.
