OpenAI VP Matt Knight resigns; shares ‘note’ sent to the company on Twitter; CEO Sam Altman replies

OpenAI’s vice president and chief information security officer (CISO), Matt Knight, has announced his resignation after more than five years at the company. Knight took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to share a note in which he reflected on his journey since joining OpenAI in 2020 as its first security hire. Knight recalled that he joined the ChatGPT-maker when it was still a small research lab launching GPT-3 and an experimental API.

Knight further highlighted the evolution of OpenI’s security program under his leadership. He noted that security program of the company now protects a global platform which is trusted by hundreds of millions of users.
