Ericsson seeks to cut 1,600 jobs in Sweden in cost savings drive

NEW DELHI: Telecom gear maker Ericsson has commenced discussions with trade unions in Sweden to potentially cut 1,600 jobs in its home country as part of efforts to improve cost efficiency while maintaining investments in network technology.

“Ericsson has submitted a notice to the Swedish Public Employment Service. Approximately 1.600 positions could be impacted in Sweden,” the Swedish vendor said in a media statement on Thursday.
