OpenAI is reportedly working on ways to show ads inside ChatGPT. According to The Information, employees have discussed showing sponsored information in ChatGPT responses when users ask questions linked to shopping or services. For example, a Sephora-sponsored beauty product ad may appear when a user searches for mascara recommendations. The report quotes a person familiar with the discussions who said that OpenAI employees have been creating mockups for different ways that ads could appear inside ChatGPT in recent weeks.
OpenAI has crossed 900 million weekly active users and is expected to hit 2.6 billion weekly active users by 2030.
