MeitY plans trade code revamp for semiconductor

The ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY) is working on creating better trade classification for semiconductor imports, officials told ET.

The current list of harmonized system of nomenclature (HSN) codes for input goods in the semiconductor value chain is outdated, and is hampering critical imports in the sector, it has told the commerce and industry ministry.
