One of Europe’s biggest chipmakers STMicro says it aims to ship 10 billion chips for Starlink by 2027
STMicroelectronics has disclosed the numbers involving the massive scale of its partnership with Elon Musk’s SpaceX. The company said that it has already shipped over 5 billion radio-frequency antenna chips for the Starlink satellite network, and projects that the volume of chips delivered under the contract may potentially double in the next two years.
According to a report by news agency Reuters, the statement signals the accelerating growth of the commercial space market and the vitality of specialised chip suppliers. The revelation comes a decade after the Tesla CEO first met with STMicroelectronics CEO Jean-Marc Chery.
