Experts call for dedicated cyber security authority

Bengaluru: As cybercrimes surge across India, experts Friday urged the creation of a dedicated national authority for cyber security — a body with the same stature and clarity of mandate as those guarding the country’s land, air and sea.

Speaking at a digital security conference organised by Synergia Foundation here, former defence officials and senior bureaucrats warned that India is falling behind nations like Australia and US, which already have dedicated cyber ministries or central agencies.
