Telecom operators ask Centre to rationalise spectrum valuation

New Delhi: Telecom operators unanimously called upon the government to rationalise spectrum valuation and lower reserve prices. They asked the reserve price for the auction to be set at 50% of the spectrum valuation to encourage participation, instead of the current 70-80%.

Stakeholders suggested that the telecom regulatory authority of India (Trai) should not rely solely on past auction-determined prices to determine spectrum valuation, especially when those prices resulted in unsold inventory.
