Donald Trump allows Nvidia to sell H200 chip to China: But why it may be too late now

President Donald Trump recently announced his approval for Nvidia to export its advanced H200 artificial intelligence (AI) chips to China. However, despite the green light by the US, regulators in China are reportedly planning to limit access to the chips as Beijing pushes for self-sufficiency in AI semiconductor production. According to a report, China is discussing ways to limit access to the successor of Nvidia’s H100 AI chips.

According to a report by The Financial Times, regulators in Beijing are currently discussing methods to permit only limited access to the H200, which is touted as Nvidia’s second-best generation of AI chips.
