Hyderabad: Cyber fraudsters posing as law enforcement officials duped two Hyderabad senior citizens of over ₹2.2 crore by threatening them with ‘digital arrest’ in cases of human trafficking and terrorism.
A 60-year-old businessman from Mokila got a call on Nov 27 from a fraudster posing as an employee of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre in Bengaluru. Claiming that a case of harassing a woman had been registered against the victim in Bengaluru for obscene messages sent from a SIM card in his name, the caller connected the elderly businessman with multiple fraudsters posing as Bengaluru cop Tirumala Rama Rao, police control room staffer Shiva Prasad and CBI officer Daya Naik.
