Elon Musk-led SpaceX competitor from Italy launches AI-powered defense shield like Israel’s Iron Dome

Italian defense and aerospace group Leonardo has launched an AI-powered air defense system, the “Michelangelo Dome”, designed to act as a multi-layered shield for cities and critical infrastructure. Named as a nod to Israel’s “Iron Dome”, the Michelangelo Dome will integrate space, air, land and sea defense platforms to detect, track, intercept, and neutralise a range of aerial threats, including missile attacks and drone swarms. The launch will bolster Europe’s defense capabilities.
