JioHotstar crosses 1 billion downloads on Google Play

JioHotstar, the streaming platform owned by JioStar, has crossed 1 billion downloads on Google Play, joining the elite global club of apps that have reached the milestone. The platform now claims 300 million paid subscribers and more than 500 million monthly active users, reinforcing its position as India’s largest streaming service by scale.

The platform, created through the merger of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar, attributed its growth to a deep local content strategy, a frictionless user experience, and strong market integration.
