Mobile sales may fizzle out after festive surge
India’s total smartphone shipments this year are projected to decline more than previously estimated. Analysts have revised their forecasts for 2025, highlighting the slowdown in demand in the current quarter as companies raise prices due to increasing component costs. The downtrend is expected to continue into 2026, they said.
Research firm IDC India has lowered its annual forecast for smartphone shipments despite a strong year-on-year rebound in the festival season. It has projected shipments to be less than 150 million units from around 151 million estimated earlier, and said the “negative” trend could continue.
