Cloud-powered feature phones could unlock 40% revenue growth for Indian telcos: CloudMosa
India’s 350 million feature phone users could become a major new revenue source for telecom operators as cloud-powered 4G devices can boost average revenue per user (ARPU) by up to 40% while reducing churn rates up to 30%, according to Shioupyn Shen, CEO of CloudMosa.
The California-based company now counts India as its biggest market, with 80% of its global user base after 500% growth in Q4 2024. Indian telcos are rushing to move customers off aging 2G networks, but device costs remain a major hurdle for Indian feature phone users. “India still has around 350 million feature phone users, most of them on 2G,” Shen told ET. “While many aspire to upgrade, affordability holds them back.”
