India’s online money gaming ban faces first legal challenge as A23 owner moves Karnataka HC
Head Digital Works, the parent company of India’s leading online gaming platform A23, has approached the Karnataka High Court challenging the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Law, 2025, becoming the first real money gaming (RMG) operator to formally contest the legislation.
The new legislation marks a setback for India’s online real money gaming industry, which is backed by venture capital firms such as Tiger Global and Peak XV Partners and was projected to be worth $3.6 billion by 2029, according to industry estimates cited by Reuters.
