Cybercriminals hack govt apprenticeship portal; candidate funds worth over Rs 1 lakh diverted

Bengaluru: Cybercriminals allegedly hacked a government apprenticeship portal and diverted stipends meant for six candidates by altering their bank account details.

The hack on apprenticeshipindia.gov.in, under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, occurred between January 3 and July 4. Around Rs 1.46 lakh was siphoned off.

The portal allows candidates to register and apply for apprenticeship opportunities and receive stipends.
