OTT crackdown: Govt bans Ullu, ALTT, Desiflix, Mojflix & 20+ platforms over vulgar content

The Indian government has banned public access to several OTT platforms, including Ullu, ALTT, and Desiflix, for showing obscene and vulgar content. According to a report by news agency ANI, the banned platforms were found violating different laws, including Section 67 and 67A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, Section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Section 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.

A source quoted by ANI said, “There was hardly any storyline, theme or message in a social context.”
