How this Google-owned company is hurting Netflix BIG on TVs in the US

The battle for the living room screen is heating up in the digital entertainment space. Netflix, long a dominant player, now faces a formidable opponent in Google-owned YouTube. A recent Nielsen report reveals that YouTube captured a significant lead over Netflix in US television viewing time for May, lending credibility to CEO Neal Mohan’s claim that ‘YouTube is the new TV.’

The report claimed that YouTube and Netflix together captured 20% of all US television viewing time in May, with YouTube holding a significant lead at 12.5% compared to Netflix’s 7.5%. Their closest streaming rival, Disney, with its combined services (Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+), accounted for 5% of TV time during the same period.
