Centre approves new framework to expedite BSNL, MTNL, ITI asset monetisation: Report

NEW DELHI: The Central government has allowed government departments and organisations to acquire the assets held by state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), and ITI Limited, sans auction under a new framework approved Monday, according to a CNBC-AWAAZ report.

As per the report, a Committee of Secretaries, chaired by Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan, has approved the transfer mechanism, which permits direct purchases at a “market rate” determined through a tiered process.
