Apple’s India focus: Foxconn begins production of Apple AirPods in Hyderabad for exports, iPhone production to follow soon

Foxconn, a Taiwanese contract manufacturer, has started the production of Apple AirPods at its Hyderabad facility for export, and its larger plant in Bengaluru is set to commence operations soon in order to ramp up iPhone production in India, sources told Moneycontrol. This comes in the backdrop of US-China trade tensions and President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs which have now exceeded 100 per cent on certain categories of Chinese goods. In response to this, Apple is doubling down on India as a strategic manufacturing hub, positioning it as an alternative to China. The US tariff on Chinese products is being looked at as a threat to the supply chain stability and will potentially drive up iPhone prices.
