ChatGPT-maker OpenAI is reportedly interested in acquiring Google’s Chrome browser if a federal court mandates its divestiture, according to Nick Turley, head of ChatGPT, during a Tuesday court hearing. “Yes, we would, as would many other parties,” Turley said when asked about OpenAI’s interest in purchasing Chrome, as reported by Bloomberg.

Turley testified for the Justice Department in a three-week trial to determine remedies for Google’s search market monopoly, following a 2024 ruling by Judge Amit Mehta. The Justice Department seeks to force Google to sell Chrome, with Mehta’s decision due by August.
