TSMC wants Nvidia, AMD, Broadcom to be a part of this Intel joint venture
TSMC has a joint venture proposal for US chip designers Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and Broadcom, a report claims. A report by the news agency Reuters cited sources familiar with the matter noted that the Taiwan-based chipmaker has asked these chip designers to operate Intel’s chip factories. Under the proposal, TSMC will manage the operations of Intel’s foundry division – which produces chips tailored to customer needs – but would maintain a minority stake, not exceeding 50%, the report notes.
As per the report, multiple sources have confirmed that Qualcomm has also been approached by TSMC with this joint venture proposal. If things go as planned, this joint venture would see TSMC taking on the operational responsibilities of Intel’s foundry business, while remaining a minority stakeholder, the report adds.
