Reliance to install AI-ready data center in Assam: Mukesh Ambani

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) will install an artificial intelligence (AI)-ready data center in Assam which is expected to benefit the education, healthcare, and agriculture sectors.

“Our first priority is to make Assam technology-ready and AI-ready. For us, Assam’s digital transformation is a noble and patriotic mission,” Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, said at the Advantage Assam Summit 2025 on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the summit today in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, external affairs minister S Jaishankar, union minister for ports, shipping and waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, union telecom and IT minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, among others.

“Jio has made Assam not only 2G-mukt but 5G-yukt,” Ambani said, adding that after building connectivity infrastructure, Reliance will now install high-performance computing infrastructure.

“Reliance will establish an AI-ready data center in Assam, which will benefit students with AI assisted teachers, patients with AI-assisted doctors, and agriculture with AI-assisted farmers,” Ambani said.

According to the RIL Chairman, AI will help Assam’s youth to learn from home and earn from home.

“Assam’s tech-savvy youth will give a new meaning to AI in the coming decades. AI will not only mean Artificial Intelligence but will mean also Assam Intelligence,” he said.

He said RIL’s investment in the state has exceeded Rs 12,000 crore since 2018, and the conglomerate will more than quadruple its investment in Assam to over Rs 50,000 crore in the next five years in five priority areas – AI infrastructure, green energy, food and non-food consumer products, Reliance Retail stores, and high-end hotel and hospitality economy.

“The possibilities for Assam are limitless. I assure our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sarma that Reliance will continue to remain a proud and dependable partner in this mission,” Ambani said.
