ChatGPT’s head of product Nick Turley to testify against Google
OpenAI’s head of product for ChatGPT, Nick Turley, will testify against Google in a US antitrust case. The Department of Justice is seeking Turley’s testimony to prove how Google is allegedly restricting the entry of its competitors in the search market. This case stems from an August 2024 ruling that declared Google holds a monopoly in search. While Google is appealing the decision, the DOJ is pushing for penalties, such as spinning off Chrome or a 10-year ban on new browser releases. To strengthen its case, the DOJ is calling on executives from various Google competitors, including OpenAI, Microsoft, and Perplexity, to testify.
