South Korean researchers develop ‘Iron Man’ robot to help differently abled users
South Korean researchers have developed a lightweight wearable robot that can assist paraplegic users in walking, manoeuvring obstacles, and climbing stairs. The robot can walk up to the differently abled users and lock itself onto them to help them with these movements. The Exoskeleton Laboratory team at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) that has developed this robot aims to integrate this technology into the daily lives of differently abled people. Park Jeong-su, a member of the KAIST team, shared that his inspiration came from the movie Iron Man.
“After watching Iron Man, I thought it would be great if I can help people with a robot in real life,” Jeong-su said to the news agency Reuters.
