5,000 startups registered under Startup India closed so far: Govt data

Out of 1.52 lakh entities recognised as startups under the Startup India programme by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), 5,063 startups — 3.3 per cent of the total registered startup count — have been categorised as closed, that is dissolved or struck-off, as per the Ministry of Corporate Affairs basis status of entities as of December 5, 2024. The information was shared by Jitin Prasada, Minister of State in the Commerce Ministry in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
