Mate 70: Huawei’s first smartphone not powered by Google’s Android OS

A few sanctions from the United States of America restricted Huawei from using hardware and software made by US companies, and this has led to a point where the company has announced its first non-Android smartphone –– the Huawei Mate 70 series, powered by custom HarmonyOS NEXT.

Huawei’s latest flagship smartphone––Mate 70–– is the first to ship with the HarmonyOS NEXT, which can neither run Android apps nor support Google services. Huawei chairman Richard Yu calls the Mate 70 “the most powerful Mate phone ever,” and it will soon be available for purchase in China.
