Delhi High Court suggests handbook for police to coordinate information from social media during probes

The Delhi High Court recently suggested that the Delhi Police take steps “towards preparation of a handbook that may be utilised and disseminated to all police stations” to coordinate information from social media intermediaries for investigation and averting crimes.

The bench of Justices Prathiba Singh and Amit Sharma recorded in an order on November 13, “The said handbook can include the details of the manner in which the requests have to be made and the details of the Nodal Officers of these platforms (social media intermediaries).
