The viral vape trend on social media and what makes it dangerous

A concerning trend has emerged on social media that experts are warning as dangerous. Started in the month of October, the challenge called ‘Stoptober’ has social media influencers suggest vape users various methods to help them kick cigarettes or vapes for good. Of these, one trend has been slammed as risky and potentially fatal.
This is “drowning” their devices in water. While the intention is to render the vapes unusable, experts warn that this method is not only ineffective but also incredibly dangerous. Content creators have been sharing videos of themselves disposing vapes in water and then in rubbish bins. However, this method they are using to dispose of their vapes has reportedly been described as “disastrous” by vape safety experts.
