Indonesia has banned iPhone 16 series and Google Pixel smartphones for ‘breaking’ this government rule
The world’s fourth most populous nation has shut its doors to two of tech’s biggest names, as Indonesia blocks both Apple’s iPhone 16 and Google’s Pixel smartphones from its lucrative market of 270 million people, citing violations of local investment rules.
The Indonesian government requires smartphone manufacturers to meet a 40% local content requirement through either manufacturing, firmware development, or direct investment in innovation projects. Neither Apple nor Google has fulfilled these requirements, according to Indonesian officials.
