Google Photos web now supports direct backup of computer folders: Here’s how to do it

Google Photos is making it easier for users who want to back up their digital memories. In a recent update, the web version of Google Photos now allows users to directly upload entire folders from their computers, eliminating the need for the Google Drive desktop app for certain workflows.
Previously, uploading photos and videos to Google Photos could only be done by selecting individual files or using the Google Drive desktop app, which automatically synced designated folders with Google Photos.
