When Apple secretly partnered with ‘China’s Tesla’ to take on Tesla

Apple secretly partnered with Chinese automaker BYD to develop advanced battery technology for its now-cancelled electric vehicle project, according to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The collaboration, which began around 2017, focused on creating a long-range, safer battery system using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells.
The partnership, previously undisclosed, sheds light on the extent of Apple’s efforts in its decade-long pursuit of producing an electric vehicle.
