10 years after man buys ‘faulty’ laptop, Delhi consumer forum asks Acer to pay Rs 47,000 as compensation

The Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission on Monday directed Acer India to pay Rs 47,000 for a “defective” laptop that a complainant had purchased on June 24, 2014.

Abhishek Bansal, a resident of Delhi, had purchased an Acer laptop with pre-installed Microsoft Windows 8.1 operating system. His laptop ran into multiple issues – the applications and programmes were not working, there was no sound, CDs and DVDs were not being read, and documents took forever to get saved to name a few.
