Facebook parent Meta faces new $100 million EU fine, here’s what the company said

Facebook parent Meta is facing a $100 million fine in the European Union (EU). The penalty was imposed by EU’s leading privacy regulator, the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) for an alleged security lapse. According to a report by the news agency AP, the social media platform stored users’ passwords in ‘plaintext’ which had no encryption or protection.
