Bengaluru MNC product marketing head placed under ‘digital arrest for 10 hours’, loses Rs 51 lakh to cybercriminals

A 31-year-old product head of a reputed multi-national company (MNC) based in Bengaluru was allegedly placed under “digital arrest for 10 hours through Skype call” by cybercriminals posing as officials from FedEx courier service, and Mumbai police, who cheated her of over Rs 51 lakh, the police said.

The woman, the head of product marketing (Demand), claimed that she lost Rs 51.29 lakh – Rs 49,92,921 by way of a loan taken from ICICI bank account and the remaining amount from her salary account – the police said.
