Use of AI in weapon systems ‘morally repugnant’, says UN secy general envoy

The United Nations (UN) secretary general’s advisory body on artificial intelligence (AI) finds the use of AI in weapon systems “that can take life and death decisions not only morally repugnant” but also “against the grain of existing obligations, international humanitarian law and the law of armed conflict”, said Amandeep Singh Gill, the UN secretary general’s envoy on technology.
