Bengaluru consumer court orders MakeMyTrip and Air France to refund booking cost for flight cancelled during lockdown

A consumer court in Bengaluru recently ordered Make My Trip (MTM) and Air France to pay Rs 1.01 lakh to a man for failing to provide a voucher or refund for flight tickets he was forced to cancel due to the nationwide lockdown imposed by the government during the pandemic.

On August 20, the Additional District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission-III, Bangalore Urban, ordered the online travel platform and the airlines to refund Shushanth Singh, a resident of the city’s Republic of Whitefield. In his order, Shivarama K, President, ordered Make My Trip and Air France to pay Singh Rs 81,985 with 9 per cent interest from March 23, 2020,
