NASSCOM and others representing WhatsApp, Google rejects Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone’s call for regulation

WhatsApp, Google’s RCS and Telegram have reportedly rejected the demand of Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea to bring OTTs under TRAI regulation. Earlier this month, a Economic Times report said that the telecom companies have asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to make new rules for OTT (over-the-top) communication apps under the Information Technology Act (2000).
