Pakistan plans to crackdown on ‘VPN workaround’ to access banned websites

Pakistan is reportedly planning to examine virtual private network (VPN) services available in the country to prevent users from bypassing a government-imposed ban on Elon Musk-owned social media platform, X (earlier Twitter).
While speaking to a parliament committee, Pakistan’s telecom regulator, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s chairman Hafeez Ur Rehman said that the country is set to screen VPN services and approve only those that comply with government regulations, The Express Tribune reports.
