‘Serious allegation’: Court rejects police officer’s anticipatory bail plea in Karnataka Bitcoin scam case

A special court in Bengaluru has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of a police officer in a case related to the Karnataka Bitcoin scam by pointing out that the illegal accessing of crypto wallets belonging to hacker Srikrishna Ramesh alias Sriki, 29, following his arrest in November 2020 is a serious allegation.

The police officer, Shridhar Pujar, is under investigation in an alleged case of tampering with evidence – including three Apple MacBooks belonging to Sriki which were seized at the time of his arrest. On June 27, the Karnataka High Court had granted anticipatory bail to Pujar in a case of illegal confinement of Sriki after his arrest.
