Fraudsters made polymer finger prints from online land records before swindling money; two sentenced to jail
A court in West Bengal sentenced two people to prison found guilty of forging fingerprints with the help of polymer sheets and using them to authenticate Aadhaar-enabled payments. The Special Public Prosecutor called it “one of the first Aadhaar card fraud convictions in the country”.
The Islampur district court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate on Monday sentenced Muzaffar Alam and Saiful Alam to five years of imprisonment, a fine of Rs 2 lakh, and an additional year if they fail to pay the fine.
