Tech layoffs 2024: Over 8K job cuts worldwide, around 600 Indian professionals impacted in July

The wave of layoffs has been continuing in July. However, there is a marginal decrease in the number of people laid off and companies axing jobs compared to June. As of now, 8,383 professionals have been laid off from across 34 companies in the technology sector according to layoffs.fyi, a website that tracks layoffs from around the world in real-time. In 2024, as of July 30, as many as 1,90,049 people have been laid off from 380 companies worldwide.

The month of July was off to a rough start when Massachusetts-based software company UKG laid off 14 per cent––around 2,200 employees––of its workforce. The company employed 15,882 people.
