Apple iPhones, Google Pixels to get cheaper, thanks to Sitharaman’s budget

Owning a high-end smartphone like an Apple iPhone or Google Pixel may now be within reach as the government has announced a reduction in the basic customs duty (BCD) on mobile phones and key parts from 20 per cent to 15 per cent. This move is aimed at benefiting consumers and bolstering the country’s position as a smartphone manufacturing hub, asserted finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman as she made the announcement in the budget.
