Bharti Airtel hikes prepaid tariffs by 11-21%, a day after Reliance Jio
NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel Friday increased its prepaid mobile tariffs by as much as 11-21% in a bid to boost its average revenue per user (ARPU), support investments in 5G spectrum, and get a “modest” return on capital.
“Bharti Airtel has maintained that the mobile Average Revenue per User (ARPU) needs to be upwards of INR 300, to enable a financially healthy business model for telcos in India,” Airtel said in a media statement. “In this light, we welcome the announcements in the industry to repair tariffs.”
