Google’s new anti-theft features will curb thieves from stealing your Android phone

At this year’s Google I/O, the tech giant unveiled a new AI-fuelled theft detection lock aimed at safeguarding users’ devices and data in the event of theft. Drawing inspiration from user feedback, particularly from Brazil where cellphone theft rates are alarming, Google is rolling out anti-theft measures to combat the rising concern.

Brazilian users will be the first to test these anti-theft features, which include a theft detection lock, offline device lock, and remote lock. Google informed that approximately 2 cell phones are stolen every minute in Brazil which makes these anti-theft measures palpable in the country.
