IIT Madras and Sambalpur University collaborate for AI research
IIT Madras has announced its partnership with Sambalpur University, Odisha, to collaborate on research and academics in artificial intelligence (AI), cyber security, chip design, and green technology. The partnership will also allow for the sponsorship of cooperative seminars, workshops, and other academic meetings.
The team will work towards the exchange of students and faculty, academic and scholarly information, and materials and publications. A MoU was signed at the IIT Madras Campus on Saturday, May 4, 2024, in the presence of Prof V Kamakoti, director of IIT Madras, and Prof Basant Kumar Mohanty, director of Sambalpur University Institute of Information Technology (SUIIT), Sambalpur University.
According to Prof V Kamakoti, it is extremely important that all higher educational institutions develop strong collaborations and share their best practices. This is one more step that IIT Madras and Sambalpur University have taken together to realise the objectives of Viksit Bharat.
Furthermore, Prof Basant Kumar Mohanty, Director, SUIIT, Sambalpur University, welcomed the partnership. In a statement, he remarked that this collaboration will help SUIIT work closely with the faculty group of IIT Madras for curriculum development, student exchange programs through credit transfer, skill development programs, joint research, and collaboration on the emerging areas of AI, Cyber security, Chip Design, and Green Technology. He also thanked Prof. Kamakoti, Director of IIT, Madras, for signing the MoU with SUIIT, Sambalpur University.
This collaboration is significant as it paves the way to sponsor cooperative seminars, workshops, and other academic meetings. Faculty from both institutions will collaborate in supervising exchange students and conducting joint research in disciplines of mutual interest.
