Delhi HC judge recuses from hearing plea on BBC documentary on PM Modi

A single-judge bench of the Delhi High Court on Friday recused itself from hearing a suit moved by a public trust, Justice on Trial, which claimed that the BBC’s 2023 documentary India: The Modi Question allegedly “casts a slur on the reputation of the country and makes defamatory insinuations against the Prime Minister of India”.

The two-part documentary was released in January 2023.

A single-judge bench of Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani recused himself from hearing the matter and said that it be listed before another bench subject to orders of the judge in charge on the original side.
