Google for India 2023: Google to start making Pixel smartphones in India from next year

Google announced at its Google for India 2023 event that it will start making Pixel smartphones in India from next year. This is a major move for Google, as it will allow the company to produce its flagship smartphones more efficiently for the Indian market.

Google has announced that it will start Pixel smartphones manufacturing in India with its latest its latest flagship devices, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Google is also expected to manufacture its mid-range Pixel A-series smartphones in India. The first India-made Pixel phone will come to market in 2024.

The announcement was made in the presence of IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Google’s head of devices and services, Rick Osterloh.

“It’s an early step towards expanding our production here to meet the local demand for pixel devices. And even more importantly, it’s a huge step forward in Google’s commitment to Make in India,” Osterloh said. He highlighted that India is a priority market for Pixel phones.

“We’re all very proud. Google is very proud, partner of the government of India’s making India initiative. We’ll be sharing a lot more information in the coming months. We can’t wait to bring more pixel magic to India,” he added.

Google will partner with both local and international manufacturers to produce Pixel smartphones in India. The company has not yet announced which manufacturers it will be working with, but it is likely that Google will partner with established manufacturers such as Foxconn and Dixon Technologies.

Google’s decision to start manufacturing Pixel smartphones in India is a welcome one for Indian consumers. It will mean that Pixel smartphones will be more affordable and more readily available in the Indian market. It will also create jobs and boost the Indian economy.
